Born in Vietnam, a Keppel scholar Trinh Ha Linh is currently a
fourth-year honour student completing her Bachelor of Music degree on
cello performance with full-scholarship at the Yong Siew Conservatory of
Music, National University of Singapore. Her teacher Pei-Sian Ng is the
cello principal of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. During her time
studying in the Conservatory, Linh has represented Keppel scholars to
give Appreciation Concerts performed in Singapore and Vietnam. In 2011,
she has been offered full-scholarship for 6 weeks of music camp and tour
around Asia with the Asian Youth Orchestra in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan,
Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Japan. Most recently, Linh
was invited to perform on tour with the Orchestra of Music Makers in
United Kingdom. She also participates regularly in the Singapore
Festival Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestra of
Music Makers. She has worked with a number of renowned conductors
includes Alan Gilbert, Eiji Oue, Claus Peter Flor, Mark Wigglesworth,
James Judd, Richard Pontzious, Takuo Yuasa, Chan Tze Law, Lim Yau, Jason
Lai, and Darrel Ang.
Linh started with the piano at the age of 4 then switched to the cello
at the age of 8. Before coming to Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music,
she studied at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. She has performed
in master-classes with Markus Stocker, Mats Rodin, Kerstin Feltz, Rhonda
Rider, David Takeno, and Inbal Megiddo. In 2007, she has performed with
the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra in Thailand. Linh has established
her orchestral career in Vietnam when she was invited to perform on tour
with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. She has received the
scholarship for excellent music students from the Korean Exchange Bank
during her study time in Vietnam.
In early June 2013, Linh will perform with the Metropolitan Festival
Orchestra its debut movie concert first time in Southeast Asia. The orchestra will
present the original soundtrack from "The Lord of the Rings: The
Fellowship of the Ring" at the Star Performing Art Centre under the
conducting of Maestro Chan Tze Law. Later in June, Linh will perform in
"On the Strings of Time" chamber concert at the Esplanade Recital Hall.
She will perform Shostakovich's "Two pieces for String Octet" with her
friends from Singapore and Malaysia.
Linh performs on the Vettori 2005 cello on the generous loan from the Rin collection.
